As the entertainment industry struggles to more accurately represent diverse communities on and off the screen, we must also grapple with the role that movies and television have had in shaping beliefs and attitudes. What is the role of entertainment in moving us toward a more just society? What are the storylines we need in the current moment?
Please join us on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at USC’s Wallis Annenberg Hall to explore these questions at “The Power of Story in a Fractured Society: Entertainment Media & Social Change,” hosted by The Opportunity Agenda in collaboration with The Norman Lear Center.
The discussion will be moderated by journalist Eva Recinos, and will feature Jenny Yang (TV writer & comedian); Lucy Odigie-Turley (The Opportunity Agenda); and Johanna Blakley (Norman Lear Center). Introduction by Lear Center director Marty Kaplan.
